I've been recently introduced into Pyramid world. I'm trying different Pyramid models on different guitars. These Western Strings were mounted on my Springsteen Takamine a couple of months ago. I just wanted to know how did they compare to upper range expensive string sets. The first thing I noticed was the sound. I don't like restringing my guitars too often, because the over sparkling sound of brand new string doesn't fit my tastes at all. These strings were not too bright at first, the sound was quite warm and soft. But still very rich. The tension is ok, to be a 012 set, they feel good to my fingers. Absolutely no tuning issues. As time goes by the sound begins to get warmer and warmer. I think the peak of their sound was around the second/third week (considering at least an hour a day of playing), it was mellow but not too dark. It really gave extra depth to my -already deep- guitar. Nothing too exceptional, anyway, but still better than lots of popular brands out there. The price is their strong point, no doubts about it. I think 4,22? is a great price for this kind of strings.
Pros: Nice sound, good feeling, great price.
Cons: Nothing, as far as I can see.
If you like sensitive teenage pop guitar bright sound you should stay away from these and get yourself 80/20 bronze strings. Pyramid Western Strings are warm, vintage sounding strings at unbeatable price.
