It is a very useful aid in recording conditions where portability, space and cabling matter. It is ideal for mobile project studios (consisting of a laptop, channel strip, near-field monitors, phones and a favourite microphone) which can be unpacked from a suitcase and set up within few hours, and operated by a single person which is both musician and engineer.
It is stable and can stand weights of bulky microphones, such as a large-membrane Neumann with elastic suspension. Built-in high quality microphone cable contributes the cleanliness of a working space and will work with any monophonic fantom-powered microphone.
I would prefer if the lowest joint would allow for flexing vertical angles sharper than 70 degrees. It would greatly add to its usability. A bit more ease and flexibility in resetting the mike position wouldn't harm anyone.
