Wát een goede gitaar!

Ik zag de aankondiging voor dit nieuwe model: high end specs op een Harley Benton? Zou het?
Het antwoord is: ja, het kan!

Voor slechts €444 heb ik een gitaar ontvangen, mijn eerste Harley Benton, met een prachtige flamed maple fineer top, mooie diepe tekening, en een hals die gewoon ongelooflijk mooi is. Helemaal flamed maple, en dan ook nog roasted!

En een echte Babicz tremolo. Ik hoor veel mensen klagen over de hoge block saddles, iemand beweerde tijdens een van de eerste reviews dat palm muting lastig is daardoor, daarom denkt iedereen dat nu.
Ik ben bekend met de Babicz tremolo, het is een ingenieus systeem dat echt werkt. Misschien moet je er aan wennen?
Stainless steel frets, trussrod afstelling met een wiel onderaan de hals, locking tuners... En de pickups klinken gewoon goed, erg allround.

Zijn er dan geen minpunten? Nou ja.. De frets zijn prachtig afgewerkt, maar op mijn exemplaar niet allemaal even hoog waardoor de actie niet extreem laag kan. Gelukkig kan ik als luthier / tech dit zelf verhelpen. En je kunt de weerstand van de tremolo arm niet strakker zetten, deze zal dus los naar beneden blijven hangen. Een veertje kan er ook niet in want de onderkant van dat gat is open waardoor het veertje eruit valt.
Ook vind ik het jammer dat de locking tuners niet staggered zijn, waardoor ze twee lelijke stringtrees op de headstock hebben moeten plaatsen.

Mijn conclusie is dat deze gitaar een absolute aanrader is. Voor dit geld kun je denk ik geen betere nieuwe gitaar kopen. Voor 2 keer dit geld denk ik zelfs dat je geen betere gitaar kunt kopen. Ik speel doorgaans op mijn Suhr Classic S, USA Fender Stratocasters en USA PRS Core modellen. Het volgende optreden gaat deze Harley Benton mee!
