Not for 18" Floor tom converted as bass drum
I had no idea that converting a 18" floor tom into a bass drum would be so painful. This bass drum riser is meant for bass drum (duh !), and it seems very solid and perfect until I fitted it to the hoop of the 18" tom and realised that the 2 clamps (tightened by the silver hex screws) are not clamping the hoop enough and just by few millimetres. One solution would be to insert a little strip of flexible plywood (5 millimetres thick) between the clamps and the hoop and that would probably be tight enough to hold, however this is not meant to be a DIY/home made project. I'm here to play drum with solid and reliable products and this product doesn't fit a thin Tama 18" floor tom hoop.
For anybody out there, there a gap in the market for properly and painlessly converting 16" and 18" floor toms into bass drums. This product is NOT one of them.
I recognised the solid build and heavy feel but it doesn't work for my needs.
Hope this review and my painful experience will help you if you intent to convert your floor toms in a bass drum.

Gibraltar SC-BDPM Doorstop
I wanted to use this on a Gretsch Catalina but there are two flaws: (1) the pins which clamp down onto the hoop go through their own rubber protectors and make dents into the hoop, leaving the rubber protectors to float uselessly; and (2) the floor plate extends forward of the hoop, so my pedal must clamp onto it but is then too far from the head; requiring me to overextend the beater action and risk denting the hoop with the beater rod. The hardware looks and feels solid but, sorry, suffers from poor design.

Okay but damaged the hoop.
When you tighten the screws to hold the Riser in place, there are screws that sit just proud of the rubber pads that sit on the hoop so when you tighten them they just dig into the hoop and case damage.
The product serves its purpose but the exposed screws are a rather silly design flaw.
