Careful before you buy!
I have a vintage Gibson J200 and ordered this system as Gibson builds these pickups in as well. It is considered to be one of the best options when it comes to amplifying an acoustic guitar.
So, my disappointment was big when I discovered that the preamp does not fit in under the sound hole.
The bracing is in the way and as you will understand I’m not willing to cut wood in this guitar.
I believe that Gibson has changed the bracing in the more recent J200 models and now it can accommodate this system but older models of the J200 will have a piece of bracing in the way.
My impression is that this system was designed for a dreadnought guitar like a Martin D18.
Maybe Thomann could put the measurements of the (bulky) preamp on their website to avoid other people having the same issue.
There is always the “SL” version with less buttons to play around with but for the rest with the same components.
At least Thomann delivers correctly and the staff was very helpful...as always!
