Use these hi-hats for almost everything now.
This hi-hat has its own unique sound with higher pitch due to its size and the hammering and finish giving a nice dark sounding tone as well.
I use this cymbal mainly for jazz, fusion and sometimes a bit of metal.
Only negative I can say about it is that it doesn't lend itself to being played all the way open but that is due to more of the size I got (13 inch) so isn't a fault of the hi-hat but maybe the 13 inch isn't best for rock.
Has a great pedal hat sound that cuts through.
Looks great and sounds great, can't complain!

Best hi-hats ever!
I've never been a dark cymbal guy but after endlessly looking and listening at hi-hat videos decided to pull the plug on these. There's a cool balance going on here: the 13' size makes them fast and the darkness lowers the pitch so they're complex and dark but fast. You get a very pleasant, articulate and crisp "chick" when you play them closed but they can get loud and throaty when you bash em' open but of course you control that as you lay into them, they feel great under the sticks and give you a nice rebound. Box came well padded including the meinl plastic sleeve on the cymbals, no funny business, no issues.
