Top nice and all around
I bought this in order to have a dual crash configuration. That is the standard one where you hit tisch - tasch (up beat resp. down beat). I also wanted something trashy to ride on. This cymbal works wonders. It has a very distinct washed trash sound which I think works well in just about any kind of music. I use it for tisch tasch in rock. I use it for various things in drum'n'bass/dubstep. Not to mention it works very well doing ride patterns on - like swing patterns. It records very well. It is one of those cymbals that sounds nice from crash hits to soft stick tip patterns.
I'm not sure if the cymbal can withstand a hard hitting metal drummer. Jt does not seem particularly fragile. However it has a somewhat complicated sound spectrum - it might be a shame not to use all of it. And the trashy dark sound might drown when playing along heavily distorted guitars - it is not very pingy. But I'm not sure. One last thing is the bell: compared to my 22" dark matter ride it is not very fit to cut through - but then again, it is a crash cymbal.
