I used Boomers when I started playing bass around 30 years ago. I quit using them simply because they were the only strings I kept breaking.
Fast forward 30 years and I decided I would give the Boomers another go. I seemed to remember liking the sound, if not the durability.
Unfortunately I wasn't impressed. I like how they feel under the fingers but the sound... it's just so middle-of-the-road. Like there's NOTHING exceptional about them. Just very uninspiring.
Then there's the issue with durability. I didn't actually break them this time but they sounded completely dead within a couple of weeks. And not in a good way. Some strings sound better once they break in. These Boomers just died.
They're not horrible, just a bit dull. The best I can say about them is that they're so lacking in character that they are actually pretty decent allrounders if that's a consideration. If you need to cover lots of different genres with one bass they might be worth trying. But they still don't last very long so even though they're cheap they're not really good value.
These have been my favorite for years, been using them for most of my electric basses. What makes them a great value for the money is their longevity and tone. Compared to other products they last much longer and do not rust or loose edge. For rock music is difficult to find anything better IMHO. The nylon wrapping keeps them as new so you can stock and use when necessary
