Just a lovely Strat!
I deliberately waited over year before reviewing this guitar because I believe it takes time to truly evaluate a product like this.
With 30 years of experience as a guitar player and owning and having owned quite a few 'standard', pro-level electrics from Fender and Gibson, I have to say this is simply a great guitar. As for playability it's definitely on par with the two '90s Standard Strats I've had.
Build quality is good, if a bit industrial maybe, and the neck is perhaps a bit less polished around the edges than a US-made instrument. On the other hand it has character in spades and the roughness wears away in time or with a bit of sanding, if one can be bothered.
Sounds great out of the box - plenty of that clarity, note definition, bite, honk and quack that you'd expect from a Strat, but definitely hotter than a US Standard. I did, however, swap the pickups with Fender Hot Noiseless as I only use this guitar for recording. The stock PUs are fine though. Stays in tune well and can even take quite a bit of abuse with the whammy.
First time I've ever bought a guitar without trying it first, but gave it a go due to Thomann's return policy. Quick delivery, no issues and good communication from Thomann as always.
