Recently bought this guitar for my wife as she started playing a few months ago on a cheap classical one. I really wanted to give her something that would motivate her. I just gave her a budget and let her choose the model.
She picked this one after looking at a few videos of different models. I personally was skeptic, for a few reasons, never had positive experiences with Ibanez guitars in general, especially acoustics, and for a reason.
This guitar is clearly made for somebody who often performs on stage and its more of an electric player than an acoustic one.
There are several Pro's:
1. The neck is incredible, like an electric guitar.
2. The body is fairly small for an acoustic with a contour on the curve that goes under your arm which is incredibly comfortable.
3. Amplified this guitar gives great satisfaction, it sounds beautiful.
4. The tuner inbuilt in the preamp is astonishingly precise.
5. Price is ok(ish)
Cons:
Due to its size, this guitar seems to sound rather thin to be quite frank. I played it right out of the box and I was rather disappointed at the sound, low end was almost entirely missing. Possibly also due to the thin strings I had to put on for my wife (9-47) the situation did not improve at all.
Depending on how you look at it, this might be too expensive of a guitar or not.
My take is, if you are an electric guitar player, and require an easy going acoustic for the occasional ballad on stage, this thing is totally for you. Great preamp, light in weight, comfortable neck and light body, sounds beautiful amplified. Go for it, absolutely.
However, if you are a more or less experienced acoustic guitar player, I would suggest you look elsewhere. If not amplified this guitar won't give you that reach full-bodied sound a proper dreadnought should have at all, you are definitely going to be disappointed.
