.14 string - an unusual choice?
I bought these strings as I was changing the tuning on a tenor guitar to "Irish Tuning" - similar to a mandolin.
I've always felt that you can't go wrong with Daddario, and that's the case again with these gauges. They're packed so as to avoid corrosion and have, and retain, a bright sound throughout their lifespan.
They'd have other uses also, replacement third strings for .008 gauge electric sets or second string acoustic 12 string sets, or for experimenting with gauges for 7 or 8 string guitars, or if you wanted a different feel in a 12 string set.
Sometimes changing one string in the set up or down a few thou can help you get the sound that you want.

Great option for custom sets
Pretty much, it's all in a title. If you want a custom Daddario set for specific tunings or if you have tension preferences that are not met by standard sets, this is a way to go, especially using the most helpful tension chart on Daddario website.

Love the fact of its existence
Quality and sound are subjective things, but the fact that I can buy single string separately makes me fall in love with it (broke a string on a new set of strings, feeling too mingy to buy complete new set).
